Performing a Long Valuation
A long valuation is a valuation performed using the full range of search tree and valuation module options, when an exact replacement value for a very specific vehicle is required. A long valuation is very useful for finalising a total loss decision for fleet management or car dealers and other situations where specific vehicle details are important.
When performing a long valuation you can enter a much wider range of information:
- Missing parts, performed and required repairs
- Installed and required aggregates.
- Special parts and non-assessed parts.
- Details of vehicle tires.
- Local market and usage corrections.
Of course, you can decide how much information to enter. You may, for example, only wish to add details of repairs and aggregates. However, the more details you add, the more accurate the vehicle valuation will be.
You can view details of the long valuation by clicking Display Valuation in the Results section of the Calculation Output page. You can also create a report containing these details and if configured, choose whether to store the report as an attachment. Refer to Viewing Valuation Results and Creating a Valuation Report for more information.
Note: If you have already performed a vehicle valuation and have changed either the first registration date, Eurotax key or mileage, when you return to the Vehicle valuation page the system will display the following error message: The valuation input data has changed. You must choose whether to copy your changes to the Vehicle valuation page by clicking Update or ignore the changes and retain the current data by clicking Cancel. If you click Update, you should perform the valuation again.
What do you want to know?
How can I tell in the Case Manager whether a short or long valuation has been performed for the case vehicle?
In the AVDC column in the Case Manager, the system displays an icon for each type of valuation performed. displays for a short valuation and for a long valuation. Of course, your configuration determines whether you can perform a short valuation and a long valuation. Refer to Performing a Vehicle Valuation for more information about vehicle valuations. Refer to Checking the Status of a Case for more information on case status.
What should I do if I want to enter my own replacement vehicle value?
If configured, you can enter your own vehicle replacement value overwriting the value given by the Valuation Manager. If you do enter your own value, it is this value that will display on your coversheet.
- Click Vehicle Data from the menu bar.
- Enter a value in the Replacement Value field.
- Make a selection from the VAT drop-down box.
- If the replacement value includes VAT for example, select with VAT.
- Make a selection from the Print Option drop-down box.
- The option you select determines the title used to show the replacement value on your coversheet. If you select No Print, no replacement value (long valuation result, manual replacement result, own replacement value) will display on the coversheet.
