Performing a Short Valuation
A short valuation is very useful in the context of a total loss decision process, underwriting, or in other situations where you do not require a replacement value for a specific vehicle. A short valuation gives you a precise vehicle value, taking into account:
- Standard vehicle equipment as identified by the Eurotax key (Vehicle identification UST page, UST-Search page or Vehicle Data page)
- Current kilometres. (Vehicle Data page or Vehicle Valuation page - Mandatory Data tab)
- First registration date. (Vehicle identification UST page, UST-Search page, Vehicle Data page or Vehicle Valuation page - Mandatory Data tab)
- Valuation date. (Vehicle Valuation page - Mandatory Data tab) If, in your configuration, this page is not displayed, you must enter the accident date in place of the valuation date. You do this in the Accident Data page. If neither date is entered, the system will use the current date.
This information is mandatory and you must enter it in the pages indicated in parenthesis above before performing a short valuation.
- Navigate to the Open list.
- Click
to open the desired case. - Click Calculation options from the menu bar.
- Select Enable from the Execute Short Valuation drop-down box.
- Select any further calculation options as required. Refer to Selecting Calculation Options for more information.

- If you have not entered the mandatory information necessary to perform a short valuation, when you click Calculate, the system will display the following error message: Conditions for short valuation not fulfilled. Press OK to continue without short valuation or Cancel to go back and fix. If you wish to perform the calculation without a short valuation, click OK, otherwise, click Cancel and ensure that you have entered the necessary information about the case vehicle to perform a short valuation.
- When you click Calculate, the system checks that the first registration date is no more than 12 months after the production end date of the vehicle. If it is more than 12 months after, the system will display the following error message: The first registration of the vehicle lies more than 12 months after the production end. To include a short valuation with the calculation you must either edit the first registration date you entered or enter a base value. Please note that the system does not perform this check if you have already entered a base value.
