Using 3D Capturing Mode

Note: 3D capturing is only available if configured for your organisation and 3D data exists for the vehicle in the assessment.

3D capturing offers the possibility to view vehicle parts in three dimensions. In addition to the enhancements this brings in zooming and panning, in 3D mode, parts are rendered in much finer detail. This means that parts are much easier to identify and recognise; this is especially true for smaller parts. Parts are shaded according to their material properties and this also includes advanced properties such as reflectivity, roughness and glossiness.

Much like with Dynamic Display, in 3D mode you can jump to a vehicle zone in one of three ways. You can click a zone from the navigation vehicle, shown in the 3D Navigation Vehicle tab, click a pictogram or use the Zone Navigation tab. See Navigating to a Vehicle Zone in 3D Mode.

Selecting a part and repair and paint methods is done in the same way as in 2D mode. See Selecting Parts From Drawings and Selecting and De-selecting Repair and Paint Methods.

All of the features available in Dynamic Display are also available in 3D mode. This includes the Model Options tab and the More Parts tab. See Selecting Model Options Using the Model Options Tab and Selecting Additional Parts Using the More Parts Tab.

You can quickly switch between 2D and 3D capturing modes by clicking 3d_Toggle in the Toolbar.
