Calculating Vehicle Depreciation

Note: This is an additional module that requires special licensing. Please contact Audatex for more information.

In the Depreciation page, you can calculate how much the value of a vehicle has depreciated since first registration date. You can select the type of formula used to calculate depreciation and enter details, such as vehicle age, damage severity and mileage.

Entering Basic Vehicle Information and Calculation Data

To calculate vehicle depreciation, the system requires basic information about the vehicle and calculation data such as the first registration date, mileage on accident date, total repair costs and the labour, parts and paint split.

If you have already calculated repair costs and added administrative data, the system will use the details to pre-fill the relevant fields in the Depreciation page. Depending on how the system has been configured for your organisation, the system will either take this information from the repair cost calculation selected in the Calculation Output page or the last performed calculation. See Selecting Calculations.

If you have not calculated repair costs or added administrative data, you will have to enter basic information and calculation data manually.

Automatic Recalculation

Once you have calculated vehicle depreciation, the system will automatically re-calculate depreciation if you return to the Depreciation page. If configured for your organisation, the system will also re-calculate when you:

  1. Click Print to create a PDF report.
  2. Open the Prepare to Send to ABS page.

Re-calculation ensures that any changes you make to the case, for example, vehicle mileage, are reflected in the depreciation result. When a re-calculation is performed, the system adds an entry to the Event Log explaining the reason. You can view the log in the Case page.
