Resolving Conflicts and Ambiguous Model Options
Conflicts and ambiguities occur for a number of reasons:
- The selection of one piece of equipment excludes the selection of another piece of equipment and the excluded equipment is selected nevertheless.
- The selection of a piece of equipment automatically includes the selection of another piece of equipment and the included equipment is selected nevertheless.
- The selection of a piece of equipment requires the selection of another piece of equipment which is not currently selected.
- The selection of more than one equipment variant, for example more than one paint finish or steering wheel.
- The system finds more than a single model option relating to an equipment selection.
When you click Accept to exit the Search Tree, the system will check your selections against a number of rules. If there are any ambiguous model options or selection conflicts, the system will ask you to resolve these. How you do so depends on the reason. For reasons 1 - 3, refer to Using Standard Equipment Rules. For reason 4, refer to Using Extended Equipment Rules. For reason 5, refer to Resolving Ambiguous Model Options.
