Comparing Calculation Results

If configured, you can compare calculations to determine differences and similarities. In particular, you can determine the reasons behind different calculation totals by comparing labour rates, guide numbers and work units.

You can compare any number of calculations, including calculations performed by other users and parties involved in the case.

  1. Navigate to the Open list.
  2. Open the case by clicking view case in the Actions column.
  3. Click Modifications from the menu bar. The page displays all calculations.
  4. Select the calculation you want to use as the basis of comparison.
  5. By default, the last performed calculation is marked last calculation. All other calculations will be compared to this. If you want to use a different calculation as the basis of comparison, click the date/time link of the desired calculation.
  6. Click the tick box next to the calculations you want to compare with the calculation marked last calculation.
  7. Click Compare.

Understanding Comparison Results

The system displays results in table format. The table is split into three categories:

  1. Part Details
  2. Part Composites
  3. Single Values

The results of the calculation marked last calculation are displayed first (far left) and all subsequent results to the right of these in chronological order. You will notice that the date, time and user are displayed above each of the results.

The system uses shading to mark differences and similarities between calculations:

  • Red highlighting shows that a value in the calculation marked last calculation is missing in the compared calculations. For example, if, the first calculation included the selection of a damaged bonnet, but the second calculation did not, the system will highlight this difference. Click here to view an example.
  • Yellow highlighting shows that there is a difference between a value in the calculation marked last calculation and a value in the compared calculations. For example, if the labour rate between the first calculation and the second calculation is different, the system will highlight this difference. Click here to view an example.
  • No shading is used where comparable results exist and the values are the same.
